Letter of working Mom to her Baby

A Guilty working MOM writes for her son, when he was a year old!

A year back you entered in this world

So lovely..So pure..Unaware of the Cosmos!

You intensified my Emotions

and made me realise the “Real Love”!

Your coo’s made me grin..

Your smile made me Jubilant..

Your naughtiness made me more Playful..

Your tenderness made me Proud ..

It was when you were in me, I vowed to be with you forever & ever!

But there was another life waiting for me!

Devoid of that “Pure love”, but again to make us “Contented”

But that could never be at the cost of your smile!

Oh Dear Baby.. My struggle’s have known no boundaries

When I juggle to keep both in my arms..

With my lap making you sleep & my fingers shuffling to complete the task..

With one arm holding you & other cooking meals for you..

Finishing house hold chores when you are asleep..Coz I won’t stop myself loving & adoring you when you are awake..

Covering up “official tasks” in a limited span..

Just to find you elated and playful looking at me!

Yes, even after giving 100% to this bond, few instances might have forced me to ignore you:(

That Ignorance can never be prolonged…It can only be momentary !

My heart throbs hearing you cry when you need me & I’m unable to hug & pamper you 🙁

Oh Baby!! Pardon me for those few moments..Free me from those bonds..

It’s you & only you who made me realize the bliss of Innocence,

It’s only you who made me feel contented!

Its only you who can make me cry & laugh together!

I assure you’ll be in my arms for ever & ever, may any situation come across

I assure you’ll always have my love besides you, even in a nasty state

I re-assure you my baby of all the goodies of life!

While this was written from a working mom’s point of view I could also say that there are many working dads that feel similar to this. Great post!

I think working moms get a lot of rubbish from people, for not saying at home. Keep doing you! xo

    1. Jhilmil

Seriously, in India, once you have a baby, you are kinda “supposed” to be at home, else you ought to listen much rubbish:(

I really enjoyed reading this. It is so hard being a working mom, but I do think you are more present when you are actually with your children, because you have to embrace that time! I went back to work full-time after maternity leave for 4 months, but my mental health was suffering, so I went down to just a part-time fill-in, and that has been the perfect balance for me.

    1. Jhilmil

Ya part time is a perfect blend, keeping the professional life & mum’s life on a great track!Great you opted that. Thanks for enjoying the read:)

  22. Anosa

Such a beautifully written letter, I could feel all the emotions. I can not even begin to imagine what it must be like being separated from your child due to the worldly tasks etc.

    1. Jhilmil

Thank you so much Anosa! In the start it was like everything was snatched from me, I felt so guilty..I had tears in my eyes daily, when I saw him after a stint of work! Was really tough

  23. rogerspartyof5

What a sweet letter! It brought tears to my eyes. I have been both a working mom and a stay at home mom, and I have felt every emotion that you described.

    1. Jhilmil

Aww.. That’s such a sweet appreciation. Since you have been both, you could so very well understand my position. Thank you so much for reading it out:)

  24. debasmita113

This poem definitely has touched my heart! It was sweet and the emotions poured into this poem felt real! Your son will definitely understand you when the right time comes. 🙂

    Have a great day, love,

    1. Jhilmil

Aww, thank you so much for these golden words! Lots of love 🙂

What a beautiful and tender note. It’s true what she said, I remember crying when my first son had his first step ON DAY CARE… I couldn’t stop feeling guilty and like a horrible mom.
