Waste to Wonder : The new Seven Wonder Park in Delhi

Waste to Wonder Park in Delhi:

Can one imagine scrap to do wonders? That’s what Delhi, the bustling capital has done. Recently, the Seven Wonders of the world park, better known as Waste to Wonder park is all open for the public now. A park with Seven Wonders of the ancient, medieval and the modern world, might not sound quite unique.

But what makes this unique is the fact that all these wonders have been made completely out of Industrial Scrap. Delhi is aptly quoted as the most vibrant hub, right from Fashion to food, and now it also has some of the finest and creative places to boast off.

This weekend, we hopped to explore this newly opened park with kids, at Rajiv Gandhi Smriti Van, quite close to Nizamuddin Metro Station.

What makes the Waste to Wonder park so unique?

We’ve already talked about the exquisiteness of this park.

  • Industrial Scrap like pipes, old benches, automobile parts, Iron rods, Cycle Rings, Nuts and Bolts, Old Utensils and similar things have been used to construct the bright and fresh wonders. SDMC (South Delhi Municipal Corporation) has acclaimed that around 150 tonnes of scrap have been used to build these structures.
  • It is also an eco-friendly park, as it is said to be lit only by using Solar and wind energy. Few Solar trees have already been set up in the park and numerous solar panels are there to generate the electricity used to lit it up.
  • Every monument has a stone plinth with the information, history about the monument and also how these replicas have been created.
  • 5 Artists, 7 supporting artists, and lots of helpers were involved in completing this park. This beautiful park is soon to showcase various horticultural projects undertaken.
